Auto Accident on Rt. 52

On March 19th, 2008 at 0820hrs, Longwood Fire Company was dispatched to Rt. 52 north of Rt. 1 for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. As units arrived, 25 EMS quickly confirmed entrapment of an unconscious female and immediately began patient care. E-25-2 arrived and began to stabilize the vehicle that was partial supported by the road bank. Lt.25-A established Command 25 and appointed Captain 25 as operations. It took the Engine and Rescue crews approximately 12 minutes to extricate the patient by removing the windshield and roof. MICU 25-1 transported the patient to an area trauma center. Traffic and Utility 25 closed Rt. 52 for the duration of the incident. Longwood units were assisted by PSP-Avondale, Kennett Twp Police Department and Good Fellowship Ambulance who relocated to Station 25 to cover the area due to numerous EMS calls.
