On November 6, 2014 at about 2:40 PM, the LFC was dispatched to the area of Route 1 and Nursery Lane in Kennett Township for the auto accident with entrapment. MICU 25 arrived to find a minivan versus a Toyota Rav 4 with one occupant trapped in the Rav 4. Rescue 25 (LaBare) responded and used a "same side opposing force" stabilization technique to stabilize the vehicle. Once the vehicle was secured, the Rescue crew used the Hurst Jaws of Life to cut the posts on the vehicle and fold the roof down. The driver of the vehicle was then freed from the wreckage and transferred into MICU 25.

Prior to this crash, the members had spent the last several weeks learning and practicing this stabilization technique. The hours spent training for these types of scenarios greatly reduces the amount of time required to perform them when it counts. This time savings is crucial to a patient who needs to get from the crash scene to a hospital in the shortest time possible. To learn more about how the LFC volunteers practice these tasks, feel free to stop in during our training night. Training at the LFC is every Tuesday night starting at 7PM.

Units: Rescue 25, Engine 25-2, MICU 25
