In the early afternoon hours, Longwood Fire Company was alerted as a part of the first alarm assignment to the 100blk of Marlbrooke Way for the house fire.

Station 36 Fire Police arrived on location and reported a working fire in an attached garage that extended into the living areas of the residence.

Ladder 25 (M. Syska) responded with 4 and arrived as the first due truck company. Ladder 25 arrived and backed into the driveway as E-24-2 was stretching the initial attack line. After overcoming several obstacles, Ladder 25 spotted a position on the A/B side of the dwelling. The Ladder crew split with the interior team assisting the placement of the initial attack line. The outside team removed several tree branches to place the aerial and deployed portable ladders to the structure. A crew from 25 and 36 completed vertical ventilation, removing heat and smoke for the interior crews.

E-25-1 (S. Syska) responded with a crew of 5 and arrived as the fourth due Engine Company. E-25-1 positioned across from the structure and deployed a 250ft 1.75" to the front of the dwelling.

After regrouping from the initial deployment, E-25-1 and Ladder 25 re-entered the structure and extinguished fire on all 3 floors.

Crews continued to work for the next hour opening up and extinguishing hot spots and hidden pockets of fire in the walls.

25 EMS established rehab and assisted with monitoring the crews during the seasonably warm weather.

Quick responses from the first alarm assignment kept the property from suffering a total loss.
