October 24, 2017

On Sunday, October 15th, 2017 the LFC hosted it's annual open house which was a great success! We had a great turn out from the community, fun interactions with the fire & EMS personnel along with the entities that came and supported us during this event! The event was open to the public at our fire house from noon-3pm and it went hand-in-hand with the fire prevention details we hosted around our community that we serve along with our neighbors! If you didn't have the chance to attend this fun event, this is what you missed:

Apparatus tours
Life saving equipment displays
Station tour
Meet & greet with our awesome volunteer and career fire, EMS, fire police, support and administrative members
Question & answer time
Face painting
Trying on the fire gear
Raffles and so much more!

We are proud of the apparatus & life-saving equipment that we displayed and we hope you are too. Without our community's help, we would not be able to have these to better serve you.

Along with the following organizations that donated items, Walgreens was on hand to give out free flu shots!
Chadd's Ford Winery
Floga Bistro
Giordanos
Hand and Stone
Herr's
La Mia Pizzeria
Longwood Gardens
Palm-A-Bagel
Starbucks
Tidewater Grille
TJ Maxx
Wawa

"The open house would not be such a success without the support of our members and the local businesses," says Fire Chief A.J. McCarthy. "Thanks to Walgreens, dozens of free flu shots were administered at no charge. All the donations were used for a raffle, the money raised will go toward future community outreach events."

Also present during our open house to support us: The Kennett Township Police Department, Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital, Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Chester County Department of Emergency Services Community Outreach Team, and Christiana Cares Health System – Lifenet Helicopter.

We are already panning for next year. In case you missed this exciting event, our fire house is staffed normally with a great group of volunteer and career staff members - feel free to stop by for a tour, call the station at 610-388-6880 or e-mail us at info@longwoodfireco.com to set one up!
