On 11.06.2018 at approx. 0630hrs, the first alarm assignment was dispatched to a residence in the 800blk of Williams Lane, Kennett Township, for a house fire. Assisting on the assignment were Kennett Fire Co, Po-Mar-Lin Fire Co, Concordville Fire and Protection Assoc., and Good Will Fire Co for the RIT.

Chief 25 (McCarthy) responded and was advised that the homeowner reported a fire coming from the electrical panel and was spreading up the wall. Supplemental reports indicated that Kennett Twp. PD were on location with heavy smoke in the basement.

E-25-2 (Wells) arrived, laid a supply line from Burrows Run Road and assumed the first due engine assignment reporting a 2 story single family dwelling with nothing evident. The engine crew stretched a line and found a working fire in the basement with extension Division 1.

Ladder 25 (Yacka) arrived and assumed the 1st due truck assignment, splitting crews and conducting a primary search. The Ladder crews assisted E-25-2's crew with ventilation and checking for extension.

E-24-2 arrived as the 2nd due engine and assisted with checking for extension on Division 1. Delco 59-2 arrived as 3rd due and assumed the initial RIT.

Remaining crews staged as the fire was quickly controlled.

FM 100 and FM 101 arrived and conducted their fire investigation, determining that the fire was caused by a malfunction with the electrical service coming into the house.

PECO responded and secured the meter.

The residence suffered a power surge over the weekend which caused the electrical meter to malfunction.

West Grove E-22-1 provided coverage at Station 25 while our units were committed.

A quick fire response and alert homeowner prevented the fire from spreading. 2 adults and 1 infant were displaced by the fire.
