At approx 0030hrs the Kennett Fire Co #1 was dispatched to an outside smoke investigation in the 400blk of W. Mulberry St. Moments later the Police Dept. arrived in the area and reported a well involved warehouse on the vacant NVF property.

The assignment was upgraded to a working building fire adding the Longwood Fire Co for the full company and Avondale Fire Co for an engine. Asst. 24A (Singer) arrived on location with heavy smoke showing from the one story warehouse. Chief 24 (Melton) responded and requested two additional truck companies. Chief 24 arrived and established Mulberry St Command and request the second alarm and hazardous materials unit.

Ladder 25 (Cressman) responded and was advised to access the scene via the NVF Baseball field parking lot. Ladder 25 deployed 1000ft of 5" supply line from Harvey Circle and W. South St. E-25-2 (Syska) responded and was assigned to pick up the Ladder's supply line and supply the ladder pipe. Crews reported suit case size embers endangering the residence's on Harvey Circle.

Ladder 25 backed into position and prepared for heavy duty operations. E-25-2 arrived and completed the lay for Ladder 25 and began to supply the fire scene. Approx 10 minutes into the master stream operation a civilian vehicle drove over the charged supply line rendering it inoperable. Both Longwood crews hand jacked two sections of 5" over 800ft to repair the supply line.

E-22 and Ladder 22 were also positioned in the rear as the second alarm engine and truck. Both truck companies went into service for approx 2 hours to extinguish the fire. The Longwood Engine and Truck crew cut two chain link fences to provide access to the rear of the property and railroad tracks.

Chief and Deputy 25 assisted with fire suppression operations on the Mulberry St side of the building.

Longwood units returned at approx 0400hrs.
