| At just before 5 pm Longwood Fire Company was dispatched to the report of a fish tank on fire in the 400 block of W. Lafayette Dr. in Pocopson. Chief 25 (McCarthy) went enroute almost immediately and was advised that the reporting party had used a fire extinguisher and believe the fire to be out but the house was full of smoke. Engine 25-1 (LaBare) responded with 4 shortly after and made their way through rush hour traffic. On arrival The Chief took Lafayette command and confirmed the report. On arrival engine 1 took the driveway, searched for fire extension, secured the power and set up a ventilation fan. Rescue 25 (Ruoss) responded with additional personnel and air monitoring equipment to assist in making sure the house was safe to return to. All LFC apparatus cleared the scene around 6:20pm. Longwood fire Company would like to remind everyone the first step in an emergency is to exit to a safe place and call 9-1-1. Always remember emergency services do not know to come and help until we are notified. And most importantly never put yourself in harm's way, possessions can be replaced you cannot be. Be safe. |
