| Christmas Day is always a relaxing day that is well spent with the members of the fire company getting a chance to spend time with their loved ones and enjoy the holidays. However, a volunteer fire fighter is always on duty and can be called to help at any time. That's what happened on Sunday December 25, 2011 around 1145pm. The Kennett Fire Company (Station 24), Longwood Fire Company and Avondale Fire Company (Station 23) were dispatched to 100 Indian Springs Road for the house on fire. First arriving units found a 2.5 story single family dwelling with the entire roof engulfed in flames. The first alarm tanker task force was dispatched and crews quickly went to work controlling the fire. The fire was brought under control after several hours of master streams, overhaul and hosing down hotspots. Unfortunately, the house was a total loss and one firefighter was transported from the scene after experiencing some respiratory difficulty. |
