| On Tuesday July 24th members of Longwood Fire Company gathered to conduct a weekly training exercise. Rope rescue training was on the docket. About half way through the session, at around 8:11 pm, the company was dispatched to an auto accident with entrapment on a narrow section of Creek Rd in Pennsbury Twp. Rescue 25 (Ruoss) responded with a full crew almost immediately, right behind MICU 25. Minutes later Engine 25-2 (LaBare) responded, also with a full crew. Upon arrival, Assistant 25 established Creek Rd Command and confirmed entrapment of 1 patient. Stabilization of the vehicle and patient care began. Engine 25-2 arrived on location and assisted in stabilizing and staging the hydraulic tools. LT 25 took operations and started to direct the extrication. With serious leg injuries and the dash pushing on the patients legs, crews removed both doors, the roof, and lifted the dash to provide enough space to disentangle the operator. Two additional ambulances were requested from Delaware County Station 5-9 to transport due to the narrow section of the road. After cleaning, servicing and storing the tools crews became available once tow trucks removed the vehicles. |
