At 10:48pm Longwood Fire Company was alerted to respond to a serious accident being reported in the south bound lane of Rte 52 near the Delaware state line. Within 3 minutes two MICU (Mobile Intensive Care unit) units responded. Rescue 25 (Ruoss) responded minutes later. Upon arrival Assistant Chief Ruoss determined the need for extrication and upgraded the assignment and established Rte 52 command. Crews immediately began to stabilize the vehicle, and as
Engine 25-2 (Bowman) arrived both crews began to remove parts of the car to allow the patient to be removed safely. 16 minutes after the Rescue arrived on scene the patient was being put onto the stretcher and loaded into the MICU.
Crews cleaned and dried the Hurst tools to prevent rust and put them back into service on the apparatus. All that was left was to wait for the tow trucks and sweep up the debris. Crews cleared the scene and were available just before midnight.

Units: Rescue 25, Engine 25-2, MICU 25-1 and 25-2, Utility 25, Traffic 25.
