At 0648hrs the Company responded to what would be the beginning of a busy day. The engine and truck were due on a fire alarm assist to Delco 59. The units were recalled while responding.

At 0747hrs the Company was dispatched for a full company assist to Delco 59 (Concordville) on a working house fire in Thornbury Township. Ladder 25 (McCarthy), E-25-1 (Cressman) and E-25-2 (Syska) responded with a total staffing of 15. Delco units were on location with heavy fire in a two story twin. Ladder 25 arrived on location and nosed into the driveway and was instructed to set the aerial ladder to the roof and assist Station 52 (Good Will of West Chester) with opening the roof. The Ladder crew split with the exterior team throwing portable ladders to all sides of the house for a secondary egress. The interior team took the roof and began to ventilate the roof. E-25-1 and E-25-2 reported to the second floor and began to open up the ceilings and walls on both sides of the twin. Traffic 25 assisted with road closures.

The interior crews encountered cluttered conditions making it difficult to complete the salvage and overhaul. The roof crew encountered numerous layers of asphalt shingles, particle board, tin and tongue and grove roofing.

At approx 1000hrs the company was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment at Rt. 1 and Rt. 52 North. Delco Engine 69 (Lima) was covering our first due and arrived on location reporting heavy entrapment and an extended extrication. Delco Chief 59 released E-25-2 to respond back to Longwood to assist with the accident.

Ladder 25 and E-25-1 remained on location and continued to extensive overhaul of the interior and roof portions of the house.

At 1101hrs Ladder 25 was released from the fireground and responded to the accident scene to provide relief personnel. The Ladder arrived on location and was re-directed to a cardiac arrest on Folly Hill Rd.

The Ladder finally made it back to the station at 1130hrs to begin the long process of cleaning our equipment.

Thanks to Lima Engine 69 for covering our first due.
