At 2122hrs the Company was dispatched to Rt. 52 (Kennett Pike) and Hillendale Rd for an accident with unknown injures. Micu 25-3 and Chief 25 (Ruoss) responded and was advised that the caller heard an accident and was unsure how many vehicles were involved.

Chief 25 and Micu 25-3 arrived with a two vehicle accident with a pickup truck resting on its side. Chief 25 established Rt. 52 Command and upgraded the assignment with entrapment. Rescue Squad 25 (McCarthy) responded with 6.

The Rescue Squad arrived, took a blocking position and deployed the Para-tech struts to stabilize the vehicle. As crews were making access into the passenger compartment they encountered a large amount of clothing and storage boxes. After making access to the patient it was determined that the roof would need to be folded down and the patient's legs would need to be freed from underneath the driver's seat.

Command requested an engine from Kennett Fire Co #1 to assist. E-25-2 (Horstman) arrived and assisted with deploying Hurst cutters. Both Longwood crews completed the extrication in 20 minutes with E-24-1 assisting in the packaging of the patient.

Micu 25-3 transported one patient to Christiana Trauma Center
