On Friday September 20 at about 1:30AM, the Ladder and Engine were alerted to assist the Concordville Fire and Protective Assoc. (DELCO 59) for the working house fire in the unit block of Watkins Ave. Ladder 25 (LaBare) made the response with 4 with Engine 25-1 (C.Keenan) closely behind. Crews arrived to find fire blowing out of an attic window with several companies preparing to make an attack on the blaze.

Ladder 25's crew dragged numerous ground ladders, saws, hooks and tools to the scene and prepared their equipment to enter the building. Deputy 59 advised the crew that Tower 59 was going to master stream the attic to knock most of the fire down. Ladder 25 and Engine 25-1's crew stood by while this took place and then entered the structure to pull the ceilings and attack the remaining fire. Shortly after entering the dwelling, all crews were pulled due to deteriorating conditions in the attic and the possibility of a roof collapse. Tower 59 deployed the master stream again until the burning portion of the roof was gone and the fire was controlled.

Both crews then worked from the exterior of the building to open up the ceilings that they could reach as well as retrieve any valuables that were being stored on the second floor. After a final wetdown, the crews returned to the the station shortly after 6am.

Special thanks to the Oxford Fire Company (Station 21) for making the response to Longwood to cover our district.
