At 1004hrs while units were still operating at the house fire in Thornbury Township, the second call was dispatched for a motor vehicle collision with rollover just down the street from the firehouse. E-69 (Lima) covering our district and Ambulance 24-1 (Kennett) responded as the cover EMS unit. E-69 arrived on location and reported a vehicle vs. tractor trailer with rollover and heavy entrapment. E-69 pulled a protection line and began extrication efforts. The officer from E-69 requested a second rescue and advised that it would be an extended extrication as the driver was severely pinned underneath the dash. Paramedic 25 (Sigismonti) responded as the medic in Micu 25-1 and began advance life support. Chief 25 (Ruoss) arrived on location and established the Rt. 1 Command

E-24-1 (as the second rescue) and Rescue 25 (Chambers) arrived on location and assisted with the extrication. E-25-2 (Cressman) responded from the fire scene as the third Rescue. Units had to remove the doors and roof to further investigate the patient's status. It was determined that the front of the vehicle had crushed into the passenger compartment and that it would take a significant amount of cutting and spreading to free the patient's legs. All the rescue companies work for approx 1hr and 8 minutes to free the patient from the vehicle. The patient was transported to Chester Crozer Trauma Center by Micu 25-1.

The roadway was closed for approx 3.5hrs so Kennett Township Police Department could investigate the incident. Traffic 25 and Kennett Fire Company Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

Units returned to service at 1158hrs.
